My oh my, where have I been. It’s been almost two months and I just needed a break. There been so much going on offline that I just haven’t had a desire (or the time) to get online to share it all with you. tLm started a new school which we adore and we’re waiting til they have room for the bean and then they’ll be there together. (cross your fingers!). I’ve been focusing pretty intently on getting healthier than I’ve been for quite some time. Vegan eating, green smoothies, Jillians ripped in 30 and lots and lots of rest & downtime (further evidenced by my absence here). We are starting some major home renovations and I’ve been doing lots of research & pricing on counter tops, patios, bathroom renos, carpet & wood flooring. It’s a full time job in itself with quite the learning curve but it’s beginning to all look doable, which is exciting.
In the meantime, although I’ve been absent here I’m on Instagram almost daily, so come find me and say hi!
Happy Monday, hope you’re well!

It’s the 15th which of course means that there are new vintage goodies added to the flea market section over at JBS (it’s all up right now!) as well as the gorgeous december daily bundle that is pictured above. I already went shopping and added quite a few of the items you see above into my cart, including that adorable christmas house. We saw some sneaks on jenni’s blog of the cabinet card embellishment kit a few days ago, so i already knew that was coming home with me, but the added vintage goodies were a bonus. i adore vintage goodies in my holiday decor, don’t you?
happy thursday!

i’ve been plugging away over the last week slowly putting the foundation pages together for my december book, created with the november project kit that i designed for JBS mercantile (purchase it here). there are so many beautiful goodies in the kit, and after piling all of this inside i still have alot left over to help embellish my pages. megan made a beautiful page using all of the goodies, a great idea if minibooks aren’t exactly your thing. ;)
the pink paislee tabbed pages are so lovely. i used JBS for ranger ink pads in chewing gum & specked egg to “dye” them. just rub the ink pad over the pages completely and then wipe away the ink that’s beading up on the “resist” parts. super easy and alot cleaner and less messy than using mists, although that would be gorgeous too.
about five year’s ago i signed up for shimelle’s journal your christmas class and i think i have made a mini book each year (except one?). i love that purchasing that one class has included so many extra year’s since then. most times i take the prompts and shoot a picture or gather some ephemera (like christmas cards, receipts, things from special outings we take) and add them to a page, i like to keep it really simple. this year, along with creating some scrapbook paper pages i also added some 4″x8″ pages of watercolor paper so i can art journal too. i’m so happy that i’m already ready. woot.
don’t forget to check out the exclusive stamps that come with the kit too, it was fun to design a new set, it’s been a long time.
———————————
i also wanted to send a big round of prayers to those of you who live on the east coast. i finally sat down and watched some of the tv news this morning and my heart is aching for those who have been lost and those who have suffered. i stayed away from watching because i remember bawling and bawling as i was watching the coverage during the first days & weeks after katrina hit. i hope that those that need it get help asap and i’m also happy to hear the stories of compassionate people helping others.

patchworking
September 24th, 2012 by kL

it’s that time of year. the time when i get excited about pumpkin chunky bread (it just came out of the oven… mmm), oatmeal cookies, roasts in the oven, soup on the stove and lots & lots of holiday making of the craft variety. most summers i find i’m outside too much to really make things. but come september, i’m dreaming and planning about items i can make for our holiday decor with all of the old things i have saved and rescued over the summer months. i started the shadow box above while at a friend’s craft sunday two weeks ago. it had been a while since i had seen all of the girls (too, too long!), and it was wonderful, even if all i did was patchwork the background and organize my halloween embellies. (i’m such a horrible public crafter, lol)
how about you? any crafty makings or exciting things you are working on?
items used : JBS halloween accessory sheet; JBS embellished butterflies in black; vintage spool (you could use these by JBS); vintage seam binding; vintage sewing drawer; vintage serving utensil; vintage rhinestone; handmade felt flower; cardstock.
happy fall!
