it’s no secret that the internet abounds with amazing inspiration….almost TOO much inspiration. there are so many amazingly talented crafters & artists & scrapbookers out there who are so generous and share their ideas and their projects and their “how to’s” on the web. the trick, for me, has been how to handle it all. previously i had a jumble of bookmarks & some images saved that amounted to a big bunch of gobelty gook that i could never navigate & hence, all that promising creative inspiration went nowhere.
but recently i discovered tumbl’r, and it has been extremely helpful organizing all of my favorite images and tutorials and great ideas from talented crafters and artists around the www in one pretty place. if you are anything like me, the time you have to sit down & create is pretty precious because there is not much of it to go around. i’m looking forward to utilizing my tumbl’r more & more going forward so i can really cut down on that whole “ooooooo what do i do??????” when it comes to creating time, and get more productive during my small time window.
so when i got my february kenner road kits, i immediately turned to my tumbl’r & was easily able to find some wonderful inspiration that i quickly turned into layouts.
for example, i tagged this post in my tumbl’r a bit ago. aside from the fabulous granny square crocheted blanket and the little tutorial for a heart garland for your home, i immediately thought…”hmmm….a little heart punched garland would be super cute on a page”
so….i punched & punched little hearts & had a great time creating this:

one of the other cool things about tumbl’r is that you can “follow” other people who have similar (or interesting or different) tastes as you, so you can benefit from the inspiration & information they find as well. that is how i found this amazing artist’s flick’r page. it was just what i needed to finally tackle some photos i had from my nephew’s birthday NYC trip last summer. i always get stumped by “event” photos for some reason, but a little “moline” patterned paper city was perfect for this page. i especially loved how “moline” put those tiny black hand cut rectangles on the “buildings” for windows. SO cool. creating this page was really fun :)

and one of my favorite aspects of all of this “inspiration saving” is that once i find something wonderful that sparks something creatively, i know exactly where it came from & can give credit where credit is due. :)
happy creating! & happy tumbl’ring :)

favs
January 27th, 2010 by kl

i LOVE the way michelle has sewn that seam binding through the middle of her layout & those bits of pink at the edges of her photos & such. draws your eye straight through her photos telling a wonderful story of love & smiles. love it!

does anyone on the planet use white space like our dear debee???? i mean really….WOW. absolutely adore this one & her use of this month’s gorgeous vintage label stamp for her title sealed the deal.

ahhh…dina. ahhhhhhhhhh dina. yes…she really is that genius to create an adorable little collage inside the vintage milk bottle cap, complete with little windows & a door & clouds & even plants in the garden. & the use of the pink gingham patterned paper for this little girl layout just makes me smile.

this one is my fave from me this month. those silvery sheer flowers were just my most favorite thing & i’m so proud of myself for actually having the guts to disassemble them to layer them over the sass paper flowers for this page. turned out better than i thought it would. LOVE when that happens :)

is this the cutest anniversary page ever? gretchen is such a a master of page design. check out the placement of her photos, her strippy journaling, her vertical title. GAH! so perfect!!! & not to mention those hearts. seriously adorable & wonderful & soooo going to be scraplifted by me :) (& how adorable is gretchen & her husband! so sweet!!)

and here comes kerry (kl to you all) with a stunner. i mean really…i’m over in the NY winter gray duldrums & she whips out sunflowers. ahhhh. LOVE.IT. love all the layers at the edges of different patterns w/ those polka dotted letters & the split scallopy “cloud”. love how kerry can put so many different elements & colors & patterns together & have it still be cohesive & calm & sigh-worthy. oh & did you catch the little stitching lines inside the “O”? yeah…she is killer with the details too.

& then there is lisa with this fun layout. how awesome is that little scallopy blue heart edge peeking out of the brown die cut paper??? & of course it isn’t just straight on down there at the bottom edge, it is slanted…perfectly simple but SO effective! and there is that vintage label stamp again! LOVE how lisa used it here, so fun, so happy a perfect accompaniment for that cute photo.

& from jessi i had to choose these ADORABLE cards. omgosh how happy would you be to get one of these in your mailbox (jessi you’d better send me one…lol) they are full of sparkle & color & cupcakes!!! & she cut out the little “be mine” from the jenni bowlin tickets??? omgosh…how cute!!! what a great idea!
so…what is your fave from this month’s gallery?
hope you have a wonderful week!!

As some of you noticed earlier Jessi’s shipment to the great white north {canada, eh?} was caught up in the postal jail called canadian customs this past month. That combined with the holidays meant we were a bit late in getting her gallery updated with her amazing creations.
however! as you can see her art is amazing this month, make sure you check out her gallery which is live and especially her beautiful secret garden album. the stitching on that canvas slipcover is just SO wonderful!
and don’t forget to come back here tomorrow night, or the next morning if you’ll be off gallivanting for the new year change as we post the new january kit sneak peeks and announce some amazing news about Kenner Road in 2010. I promise you won’t want to miss the news!
Happy {almost} 2010!
