KennerRoad_2ps_OddsandEnds_

I’m back home from cha and i shopped my heart out. There was so much amazing inspiration this trip. It seems every manufacturer was designing products just for our beloved kR, the vintage designs were everywhere and i feel like i bought it all!

KennerRoad_FlashFramesWhile I was gone we finally released the first two {in a long line to come} of our Kenner Road for Two peas in a bucket digital kits; Odds & Ends : Bingo cards & Flash Frames. Each kit features not only the digital files but a downloadable & printable pdf with all of the images for you hybrid & paper crafters. This way you can print them on paper, fabric & more.

MICHELLE_1_1

i LOVE the way michelle has sewn that seam binding through the middle of her layout & those bits of pink at the edges of her photos & such.  draws your eye straight through her photos telling a wonderful story of love & smiles.  love it!

DEBEE_62_1

does anyone on the planet use white space like our dear debee????  i mean really….WOW.  absolutely adore this one & her use of this month’s gorgeous vintage label stamp for her title sealed the deal.

DINA_78_1

ahhh…dina.  ahhhhhhhhhh dina.  yes…she really is that genius to create an adorable little collage inside the vintage milk bottle cap, complete with little windows & a door & clouds & even plants in the garden.  & the use of the pink gingham patterned paper for this little girl layout just makes me smile.

GIGI_64_1

this one is my fave from me this month.  those silvery sheer flowers were just my most favorite thing & i’m so proud of myself for actually having the guts to disassemble them to layer them over the sass paper flowers for this page.  turned out better than i thought it would.  LOVE when that happens :)

GRETCHEN_10_1

is this the cutest anniversary page ever?  gretchen is such a a master of page design.  check out the placement of her photos, her strippy  journaling, her vertical title.  GAH!  so perfect!!!   & not to mention those hearts.  seriously adorable & wonderful & soooo going to be scraplifted by me :)  (& how adorable is gretchen & her husband!  so sweet!!)

KL_73_1

and here comes kerry (kl to you all) with a stunner.  i mean really…i’m over in the NY winter gray duldrums & she whips out sunflowers.  ahhhh.  LOVE.IT.  love all the layers at the edges of different patterns w/ those polka dotted letters & the split scallopy “cloud”.  love how kerry can put so many different elements & colors & patterns together & have it still be cohesive & calm & sigh-worthy.  oh & did you catch the little stitching lines inside the “O”?  yeah…she is killer with the details too.

LISA_59_1

& then there is lisa with this fun layout.  how awesome is that little scallopy blue heart edge peeking out of the brown die cut paper???  & of course it isn’t just straight on down there at the bottom edge, it is slanted…perfectly simple but SO effective! and there is that vintage label stamp again!  LOVE how lisa used it here, so fun, so happy a perfect accompaniment for that cute photo.

JESSI_51_1

& from jessi i had to choose these ADORABLE cards.  omgosh how happy would you be to get one of these in your mailbox (jessi you’d better send me one…lol)  they are full of sparkle & color & cupcakes!!!  & she cut out the little “be mine” from the jenni bowlin tickets???  omgosh…how cute!!!  what a great idea!

so…what is your fave from this month’s gallery?

hope you have a wonderful week!!

Cards, cards, and more cards!

Wow! I have been getting some mileage out of these Kenner Road kits!
I made a few simple cards last week while catching up on my TV-watching.

I could not resist making a card with this cute Sassafras sticker!
{and I am addicted to these Thickers}hi card (Jan)

I made a birthday card for a friend!
happy bday card (Jan)
{the inside says, “Happy birthday dear Brooke! Happy birthday to you!”
AND I even mailed it on time!}

And because you cannot have enough “just because” cards
on hand, here’s one more!

hi card (Jan) 2

4 layouts and 3 cards later, I still have
all kinds of stuff left from the January kit!
And I will be hoarding it, thank you very much!
{these cards were made using the January Main & Embellishment kits}
What all have you made with your kit??
:)
Happy Monday!

a little strippy something…

close up of heart

i really love how all the pattern papers in the kits look together.  all the colors & patterns…they all seem to look just so good together!  i’m also a big fan of saving every little bit of the aforementioned pattern papers…well…just in case, you never know :)

this little strippy technique makes the most of mixing the great colors & patterns in our kits.  it also is great for stretching those extra left over scraps of pattern papers into more & more projects.  gotta love stretching the ol’ crafty supplies :)

so here we go.

you’ll need:

scraps of pattern papers

scraps of cardstock

chipboard shape to use as your template

gluestick & dry adhesive & foam tape

scissors & craft knife

bits & bobs for embellishing.  (embroidery floss, bakers twine, little flowers, tags, etc.)

1. gather your scraps of pattern papers & randomly slice into strips of varying widths (say from 1/8″ to 1/2″).

step 1

2. take a piece of scrap cardstock that is @ a few inches bigger than your chipboard template on each side & coat w/ gluestick.  randomly glue down your pattern paper strips.

step 2

3. trace your chipboard template onto another scrap of cardstock & cut out using a craft knife.

step 3

4. place the negative from your cut out template over your strippy collage of pattern papers and tack down using dry adhesive.

step 4

5.  (optional) sew around the edge of the cut out.  warning:  go slow around those curvy edges.  you’ll notice at this point my photo example kinda changes.  that’s because the first heart i did, i went way too fast & my stitching line got all crazy around the heart.  the second time, i just went nice & slow around those edges & it was much easier to make sure my stitching was going where i wanted it to.

step 5

6.  leaving a little border or just outside of your stitching line, cut out your shape (you’ll be cutting through both your strippy collage and your cardstock overlay.

step 6

7.  embellish your little shape & then using your foam tape, pop your shape on something to make it look fabulous! i popped my heart onto one of those maya road envelopes that were part of the december kit.

viola!!

full heart card

and here is a little card i made with last year’s march kit using this same technique.

hi card

hope you have fun with this!

have a great weekend!!  & GO JETS!!!!!  :)

Make a quick mini album out of your kit scraps…

If you’re like me, you use your Kenner Road kit to create many wonderful layouts…and then you’re left with scraps that are so hard to throw away! I know many scrappers are great about saving & using up scraps, but I confess I am not one of them.  As I looked at the scraps I had after making my layouts this month, I decided to use them to create a super-quick mini book.

b01

To make the book:

1. Take a piece of cardstock and cut it in half, and then fold it in half. Voila, you have the cover for a 6×6 mini.

2. Grab your paper scraps and cut them into rectangle shapes to fit inside the album. Since my scraps were various sizes, I ended up with lots of different page sizes. I simply grabbed a scrap, trimmed it into a rectangle & folded it in half.

3. Nest all your folded pages into your cover and run it through your sewing machine to bind it. You could also staple the pages, if you have a long-reach stapler.

4. Fill up your pages with photos! All of the different size pages make the album really fun.
