Christmas is…
one of my favorite seasons to be inspired & can be found everywhere.
around the house:

our Christmas tree this year. rainbow. of course ;)
most of the ornaments on our tree were made from simple things like styrofoam balls covered in feathers & glitter and little birds & butterflies that i got from michael’s arts & crafts store.
i made the tree skirt from vintage ties that i got at the thrift store! it was so easy to make: you just sew up the sides of the ties together & they naturally fan out into a circular shape ;)

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas around my home if we didn’t have Mama’s Old Fashioned Cornbread Dressing and authentic Pecan Pie!!! Many, many years ago, the dressing was only served once a year and that being Thanksgiving. Then the men in the family began to complain about our limiting it to once a year. So, we adopted the idea of both for Christmas. In the meanwhile, everyone is happy!!!!
Have a blessed Christmas, Angie Smith

I loved all the items in the giveaway, but can I have the tree as weel? It’s just amazing!
Weel, about the food… I don’t think I have a favorite. I’m just one of those people that eat according to what is on the table… LOL. But I love chocolate, it doesn’t matter how. There is a sweet here in Brazil called “brigadeiro” and I simply love it! (it’s made by putting in a pan: condensed milk, 1 table spoon of chocolate (powder), and 1 spoon of margerine. Then on stove, mix it until it gets thick and you can see the bottom of the pan. Let it cool and it’s ready! You can eat the way it is or, after it’s cool enough to work with it, you make small balls.)
It’s really good!
December 13th, 2009 at 11:45 am
WOW, what a prize!!!!
Now that is what I call a Christmas present ! :-)
My favorite food…ohhh, there are soooo many over the holidays but I would have to say “goose” since the whole family gets together to start of the holidays and pull names ( we do a secret Santa) and we share a feast of a goose dinner…it is super yummy and it is nice all of us being together without the stress of the holiday.
Just a nice festive family meal.

Fave guilty pleasure holiday treat is a Cheesecake ball with toasted slivered almonds and Toll House Chocolate chips inside, you eat it on graham crackers. I really like low fat egg nog halved with 2% milk and warmed up and frothed…soooo yum.
Fave semi-healthy holiday treat is homemade garlic humus with toasted pita bread and/or sugar snap peas for dipping. Yummo.
Thanks for the super generous giveaway. Not sure if you allow internationals to enter (Canada) but thought I would try anyway! Happy holidays!

Hard to chose just one favorite ;) so would have to say love all of the desserts, especially pie. I figure it is the one time in the year, besides one’s birthday, where one can eat and enjoy the food without any guilt!
Thanks for the giveaway.

Let’s see my favorite holiday food. Wow, that sparked a memory. It’s fondue! My mom used to set up fondue on a card table in front of the fireplace during the holidays. We’d turn off the lights and have cheese fondue and this great hot oil that you cooked the steak bites and shrimp in. She made like 6 different sauces and my favorite of those was this thick curry dipping sauce for the steak. Haven’t had it in forever.
That is so what I am giving the kids for dinner tonight. Thank you sooo much for the memory. Happy holidays!

Favorite holiday food…it is a classic of my grandma’s. She used to live with two nun’s and cook for them to pay for her room and board while she earned her teaching degree. She always cooked with real butter..and I love her for that. Her treat was TeaTime Tassies. They are little pecan pies. Her crusts were the flakiest and best I’ve EVER had hands down. I could eat those babies by the handful guiltfree.
P.S. LOOOOOOOOVE the Christmas wire tree. So fabulous! Vintage gorgeous.

My name is Shay which is my last name, but what I mostly go by so some people refer to me as Shay Shay or Shay squared. I love all sorts of holiday foods/drinks including Christmas cookies, latkes, hot spiced cider, eggnog, wassail, our spicy fruit salad (has a sweet lime dressing infused with jalapeno)we have for Christmas brunch and all the appetizers we make for our holiday party (new and different each year). I love food (eating food, reading about food and also cooking and baking) so this is a fun and great question. Thanks for the chance to win this sensational prize.
